W.I.N. is a Win-Win

Most people would agree with me, this year emphasized the importance of connection and relationship. For many people, it was a time of complete isolation away from family and friends. Sometimes we don’t know how much people mean to us until we can’t be with them. If that wasn’t bad enough millions of people lost their jobs and their medical coverage.

My grandma always told me when one door closes another door opens. Maybe that job you had was or still is, just a job to make money. Maybe it is time to manifest a job making money while doing what you love. The universe is giving you time to self-reflect and re-adjust to a new way of life. Wholistic International Network is a great community of like-minded practitioners whose goal is to help you through this transitional process by creating a circle of support both personally and professionally. We are here to help empower you and help promote your work. Maybe you are just trying to find an alternative way to support your family’s wellness. We are here to support this too. We have a team of practitioners that send out each day, ten – minute long-distance healing to our members if they request it.

Are you looking for new training in the holistic field? We have that too. Maybe you have a product, event, or online courses that you would like to advertise? Our platform is great to get you noticed all over the world.

Getting Grounded in Vata Season

Vata season… what is that all about?

Vata is a word that comes from Ayurveda, a system of holistic healing rooted in the same 5000 year old Vedic tradition as yoga. Ayurveda and yoga are sister sciences, pathways to optimal wellness of body, mind and spirit.

Ayurveda 101 – “The sacred knowledge of life.”
1. Ayurveda teaches us to see the world and ourselves in relationship to five elements: earth, water, fire, air and ether (space).

2. Ayurveda identifies 20 qualities (gunas), arranged in 10 pairs of opposites that describe every substance or experience. They help us understand the Ayurvedic foundational principle of like increases like and opposites balance.
• heavy – light
• slow (dull) -sharp (penetrating)
• cold – hot
• oily – dry
• smooth – rough
• dense – liquid
• soft – hard
• stable – mobile
• gross – subtle
• cloudy (sticky) – clear

3. Ayurveda’s three doshas: vata, pitta and kapha, define characteristics of a complex combination of the five elements and twenty qualities. All three doshas are present in every person, but the unique ratio of each determines our individual constitution. Once we understand our unique constitution, we can identify strengths and weaknesses, and use this information as a blueprint to practices that promote optimal health.

It’s Vata Season!
Seasons are also associated with doshic qualities. Autumn is vata time, the transitional, unsettled period between the lightness of summer and the heaviness of winter. Characterized by an increase in cooler temps, dryness (think of leaves) and wind, autumn brings a substantial increase in the vata elements of air and ether, and the vata qualities of dry, light, cold, rough, subtle, mobile, clear.

Meaning… you just might be feeling a little unsettled this time of year, particularly if you have a vata-dominate constitution. As the elements of vata are elevated in our environment, so too can they be elevated in our minds and bodies, causing imbalance. Symptoms of aggravated vata might include anxiety, fear, poor digestion, dry skin and lips, a scattered mind, little or no appetite.

So how do we get grounded in vata season? Simply balance the opposites! Replace vata’s dry, light, cold, rough and mobile qualities with wet, heavy, warm, smooth and stable qualities in your lifestyle choices. No exercise required.

Some Simple Solutions
Establish a daily routine. Consistent bedtimes, wake times and meal times create stability, grounding the vata quality of mobility.

Rethink your food choices to include vata balancing qualities of heavy, moist, sweet and warm. Opt for foods that are in season, such as squash, sweet potatoes and root vegetables like beets and carrots. Include sweet grains like basmati rice or brown rice, and warming spices like ginger, cinnamon and black pepper. High quality oils such as ghee or sesame oil counter vata’s dry and light qualities. Replace salads and raw veggies with stews and casseroles; cold drinks with a warm alternative. And just as important, take time to sit, relax, and enjoy your nourishing meal.

Slow down and pamper yourself. What you choose to do is up to you, but consistency counts. Designate a time, maybe it’s daily, weekly or monthly, to indulge in a massage, a bubble bath, time alone, or a good read.

Create a little Hygee (pronounced hoo-ga, the Danish term for cozy contentment and well-being), in your home environment. Bring out the fuzzy socks and wrap yourself in a warm blanket. Cuddle up in front of a fire and sip a mug of hot coco. Softness and warmth balance the cold, rough qualities of vata.

Fresh air works wonders. Go outside and play, take a walk, take a hike, or just breathe deeply in the great outdoors. Connecting with the earth and just being in nature has grounding qualities.

Now is the time to take advantage of vata’s glorious attributes of movement and expansion as you explore and create simple lifestyle changes that support you. Get grounded and be well!

It’s Time to Heal our Division

Before we can heal our cultural division in our country, we have to first understand what divides us.

The United States was founded on the ideals of diversity, freedom of speech, and religious freedom. People came to this country for all kinds of reasons. One reason stands out the most and that is to live the American dream of being free! Can I ask how many of you feel free?

The very thing that the American dream is built upon is diversity and it is the diversity that divides us. Everyone in our life is a mirror of who we are and/or the potential of who we can become. What happens when two people of different cultures move into the same community, what do the mirrors look like? Once we see someone different from our self in our everyday life it scares us on a subconscious level. We become afraid we will lose our own identity and become the minority. Once the fears come into play, we only see what divides us not what unites us.

Deep in the unconscious mind of humanity lies a deeper fear. How many of you are starting to think of your legacy? How many of you fear that once you die, you will soon be forgotten? This is the real root cause of the fear of losing your identity. Humanity allows this fear to drive them throughout most of their life. This underline fear not only is the driver of your conscious mind it also takes you off your path of finding your divine purpose in life.

We are coming to a time when time appears to be running out. Everything around us appears to be going in a downward spiral. It is time to make a choice! It still isn’t too late. Our true freedom of the American dream is that we have the freedom to choose. We can choose to do nothing or we can consciously choose to take life in another direction, to loving, harmonious life, by accepting our differences and finding what unites us. The next time you run into your neighbor that is different than you, instead off falling back into the old pattern of thinking, give them a big huge warm smile. It could make all the difference in the world, both literally and figuratively!

It takes courage to change our thinking patterns of what we think about our self and others. You can always find a helping hand at https://www.wholisticinternationalnetwork.com/. Wholistic International Network is a community of like-minded practitioners whose goal is to create a circle of support both personally and professionally.

Halloween vs. colors of Fall

Full disclosure, I just do not get the fuss over Halloween. I am not talkin’ about all the spiritual and religious connections to this time of year. For instance, I understand the importance of ” The day of the Dead” and the celebration of All Saints Day and All Souls Day. There are so many beautiful ways to acknowledge those who have passed and their significance to us. They all matter deeply.

What I am talking about here is the need to scare the ” daylights out of children” and me for instance. I DO NOT LIKE TO BE SCARED. What is the point of it? I am sure I have some karma with it. Well, let me explain. As a young teen, I was in the habit of breaking rules. O.K. I admit it was a problem. One crisp fall evening, “me and the guys” snuck into the local theatre, thanks to our friend the ticket taker, to see a movie our parents said no to. The owner of the show looked the other way ‘cus he knew how much popcorn and candy we were going to buy. The movie was about Zombies. My parents were right, I was very wrong and here I am, many many full moons later and it was not a good decision for a sensitive, impressionable kid. Now here is the kicker for me. We had to walk home in the dark, past the church, and down the hill. That wasn’t so bad but the church was surrounded on three sides, by a very large cemetery that came right up to the street. The sidewalk was across the street with a huge dark, dense hedge with zombie-like branches reaching out across the walkway. There were only a few streetlights between the church and our front yard. We lived one property away from the cemetery. The choice was grim. We all walked in the street until one of the guys started to run and ” holy crap” it was a chain reaction. I never ran so fast and for so long. We ran non stop til’ we got to the top of the street in front of my house. There, under the streetlight, I finally caught my breath. Nowadays, I can see how Halloween triggers all those childhood memories. I don’t like the costumes, the blood, the skeletons. Forget it. If you can. Leave it alone.

Here’s my new idea. Using techniques I learned in Sonic Reiki, I intend to work on releasing the karma I created with my parents and forgive myself for traumatizing the young teenager within me. I plan to practice a new healthy way to experience this time of year. You can consider this approach, if you wish, since you are probably free of the karma I talked about. This time of year is known for all the Fall colors. The changing of the leaves. Every color of the light spectrum can be seen in the foliage, along with the brilliance of the sky at sunrise and the awesome sunsets. We still see the deep greens of the evergreens and some of the large cultivated fields. It is known that the light waves we see, can trigger and stimulate the glands in our endocrine system and parts of our nervous system. This happens in a very subtle yet magically complex way. Many of us have a tradition of “going for a ride in the country to see the colors”. I truly feel that we intuitively know the importance of absorbing these light frequencies for our well being, physically and spiritually. Each one of our energy centers throughout our bodies, called chakras, has a color associated with it. These chakras are spinning wheels of energy. For example, our heart, in the center of our chest, resonates with the color green. The base of our spine is the root colored red. The colors go in order from our tail bone to the crown of our head. It goes red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.

My goal is to shift the focus from something scary to the beautiful effect these autumn colors have on our well- being and health. For those who need to go trick or treating, please be kind and choose costumes like Snow White and the seven dwarves, or Glinda the Good witch. I think you get my gist. No Zombies, please. Happy Halloween and drives into the country, Tom

Have You Lost a Loved One to Suicide

Their pain is gone and yours has just begun

On a hot summer day, when I was twelve years old, my grandmother sat me down on a porch swing in our backyard near the garage. She took my hand, with tears running down her cheeks, she went on to tell me, “Your great grandfather took his life in our garage.” I asked her, “how did he do it”? She said to me, “he hung himself.” My great grandfather took his life twenty years earlier and yet her pain was so deep it was as if he had died yesterday. I remembered how I was lost for words. How awful I felt that I didn’t know how to comfort her.

With all that is going on in our world suicide takes a backstage and yet what is going on in the world is increasingly adding to people’s depression. In many cultures it is taboo to talk about it. Here are some facts about suicide:

  • Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S. for all ages
  • Every day, approximately 123 Americans die by suicide (CDC)
  • There is one death by suicide in the U.S. every 12 minutes
  • Depression affect 20 – 25% of Americans ages 18 + in a given year (CDC)
  • Suicide takes the lives of over 48,300 Americans every year (CDC)
  • The highest suicide rates in the U.S. are among, Whites, American Original People, and Alaska Natives
  • Only half of all Americans experiencing an episode of major depression receive treatment (NAMI)
  • 80% – 90% of people that seek treatment for depression are treated successfully using therapy and/or medication (TADS study)
  • An estimated quarter million people each year become suicide survivors (AAS)
  • There is one suicide for every estimated 25 attempts (CDC)
  • There is one suicide for every estimated 4 suicide attempts in the elderly (CDC)

Losing someone you love to suicide is a different kind of grief then when you lose some one you love to natural causes. When someone you love dies from natural causes it is easier to remember the good times. When you lose someone from suicide it is the end of their life you keep remembering. It plays over and over in your mind. You get stuck in the emotions of “what if,” “should have,” “would of” mode. Not only are you dealing with the grief, you feel guilt, shame and anger. Please seek professional help if you feel you are stuck in this kind of thinking after losing a loved one to suicide.

Here is an easy hand mudra that helps with releasing guilt, shame and anger and it is said it can also give you peace of mind. It is called Abhaya Hridaya. Bring your hands to prayer position. Start with crossing your wrists in front of your heart. Now turn your hands over so the backs of your hands are together. Wrap your right index finger around the left index finger. Then your right middle finger around your left middle finger (skipping your ring finger) then wrap your right pinky finger around your left pinky finger and lastly bring the finger tips of your ring finger and thumb together (both left hand and right hand). Hold this position for 20 minutes each day for 10 days.

Earlier I mentioned I wished I knew how to comfort my Grandmother on that hot summer day so long ago. I felt helpless that day when I didn’t know how to comfort her. So, as an adult, I turned helplessness into comfort by becoming a Co-Founder of WIN (Wholistic International Network) WIN is community of like-minded holistic practitioners whose goal is to create a circle of support and healing.

Stop the Monkey Business

Easy routine for taming your Monkey Mind.

It is 11:00 pm and you just laid your head onto your pillow after an exhausting day. This is usually the time when the monkey mind starts messing with you. You begin to twist and turn and your monkey mind says to you, “hey, why aren’t you relaxing, you have to get up early to go to work?” Then you start thinking and start worrying about all of the things you need to do tomorrow. What if my alarm doesn’t go off on time? Did I pick out the right outfit to wear tomorrow or should I pick out another? Did I forget anything in my presentation with my boss? Will my job be on the line? You get the picture, this is your monkey mind going APE!

The above scenario is only one example. Monkey mind can speak to you about anything any time. We call it monkey mind because the mind acts like a monkey jumping from one branch to another without any focus, never allowing you to relax. Over a period of time the monkey mind can create depression, anxiety and loads of stress! Stress is the number one cause of most diseases.

Here is a shore routine I do just before I go to sleep, it helps me to have a good night’s sleep and it allows me to wake up feeling refreshed. Just before bed I rub a couple of drops of lavender oil on my temples. Then I begin to breathe in slowly through my nostrils to the count of four, hold for the count of four, exhale slowly through my mouth for the count of four and slowly breathe in again for a count of four. I do this four times.

Now, that I am beginning to relax I hold the following hand mudra for five minutes. What is a hand mudra you ask?

Hand mudras are also called sacred hand gestures. Mudras have been used for thousands of years in many different traditions as a way of awakening the divine within. Mudras are used as tools to free up energy and redirect it to areas of the body that need healing. Usually when a trauma occurs, whether it is physical, emotional, mental or spiritual trauma, some part of the nervous system switches off. It is similar to how a circuit breaker in a fuse box, automatically shuts off when it detects damage caused by excess current from an overload or short circuit Hand mudras are our circuit breakers. When the circuits of our nervous system are turned on again, energy begins to flow again between the body and the brain where the communication line have been broken. Once the communication line is back on track the body has a way of rejuvenating again. I use this hand gesture just before I go to sleep. This hand mudra is called Kalesvara.

First bring the pads of your middle fingers together, then bring the joints of the index fingers together. Now, bring the pads of your thumbs together in the direction of your chest.

Say good night Monkey Mind!

Powerful Numerology of October, 2020

Shall we take a deep breath. September was about completion and resolution, about the equinox, and the beginning of autumn. Now buckle up, we are here to embrace the 10th month in year 2020. It very strongly resonates to new beginnings (1) amplified by the zero, magnified by the double zeros of 2020.

The zero is not just a place holder. It is often viewed as nothing. Zip. Nada. Hardly a clear understanding of what it represents. It can mean the” Void” . All existence comes from the void. Many religions believe this.

The zero represents potential. That void we refer to has the potential to create anything and all reality.

For those of us who care to pay attention , there are key markers, points on the compass of your life journey. This month will hold that frequency of new beginnings on multiple levels. Especially powerful will be any day that resonates to 10. For example, 10/1/2020, 10/10 , 10/19, and 10/28. These new beginnings will be magnified by the zeros of 2020. If you have a project you have been dreaming about, use the vibration of those days to animate your dream. Take advantage of two more days, 10/20/ 2020, and 10/30/2020. Those zeros represent a great deal of potential energy to unleash in your favor. 10/20 is especially powerful for manifesting energy used in relationships particularly in families (6). 10/30 holds the structure for communication on multiple levels of existence.

All of this energy is available potentially. We must believe that we are capable of manifesting our reality. It is absolutely essential that our intents on these magical days be voiced in positive terms. If you use words like want in your intents, you will create want. Let yourself see the power of an intent like:” It is my intent to have my car payment paid fully and on time.” Or an intent like ” It is my intent to manifest all that is required for my car payment to be paid in full now. Thank you, thank you, thank you” Too often we think we need to manifest money. Money is a lower frequency. Allow the universe to provide for you in ways you might not have considered. Always include “Thank you , Thank you, Thank you.” Gratitude is a key to our prosperity and abundance.

We are creators of our reality. Take advantage of the gift of these zeros. Believe in the potential in front of us. The universe has provided opportunities for us to benefit even beyond our grandest dreams. Trust me, I know first hand it to be true.

Check out our new website for a great deal more information.

Fall Equinox 9/22/2020

Welcome to all the sun worshipers. We can comfort one another. I know you all have noticed the days getting shorter, less sun and the temperatures falling. We have to accept it and go with the flow. This magical event of transition is taking place on a 22 day holding the energy of a master number. The 22 holds one of the highest potentials for success. The 2 is very much about relationships that create a structure when connected to another 2. That structure is all heart centered allowing the master within to be expressed for the benefit of humanity.

There is a perfect story that fits this picture. The Greek myth of Persephone being lured by her uncle, Hedes, into the underworld. She was captured and forced to be in the darkness until her mother, Demeter learned of her capture . She was able to negotiate her being held only part of the year in the underworld. The rest of the time she could be in the light of the upper world. The story is perfect for us because we can see ourselves in the story with one little twist. We do not have to be tricked into being in the darkness. We can behave like masters and choose to look into the darkness to discover deeper secrets about ourselves. This time of change has the potential to reveal our inner wisdom if we have the courage to go within and explore. Autumn will happen whether we cooperate or resist. Did you notice in March and April this year? All the attention was on the phenomenon of the virus. But guess what? Spring was happening in a robust way . There was so much rain, followed by sunshine that the trees seemed to grow another third in size. It is going to happen regardless of our cooperation. The numbers are here to point us in the direction of success. Are we willing to pay attention and learn about ourselves, or is the transition going to take place without us being fully engaged?. I truly believe that each one of us has something profound to share with the rest of the world. Why else would we be here? It would be a tragic waste.

Tues 9/22/2020 is a day to align ourselves , through mindfulness, meditation, or intention to being the masterful , courageous hero of our own story. When we experience this discovery, we must share it in the most masterful way possible.

911 Numerology Reboot

Lets begin with the obvious. 911 is the emergency number to call if there is trouble. It is also the date of the attacks on the World Trade center in N.Y. city. These two facts are very often the thoughts when we hear or see the number 911. The emergency number generally triggers alarm in us . Our bodies respond by producing cortisol , to respond to any emergency . The attacks and the memories of that day recall our fight or flight response. Many people are still stuck in that fear. Both of these reactions generate a lot of stress throughout our bodies. That is where we find our energy on this particular day. So maybe it is time to reboot this energy.

Before the day of the attacks, Sept. 11th held a very special frequency connected to the 9 and the 11. It was considered to be the energy of the Lightworkers who are here to assist in the healing of Mother Earth and humanity. Let’s look closer. Number nine (9), holds the energy of completion and resolution. It can be accomplished through careful discipline, expressing faithfulness and commitment to humanity. The real beauty of resolving some long held issue is that it allows a new beginning to occur. On this day, the beginning is so much more than normal. The number 11 is a master number. It resonates to a higher spiral which initiates a transformation . A higher level of change because we were able to resolve something. If we look a little deeper, the 11 is made up of 1 and another one , but remember it’s a master number. Intuitively ,I feel that we can see this as our inner and outer world. . We are in the energy to reflect on creating an outer world that manifests our deepest and purest intentions. That is masterful. We are capable of creating our intended reality. We do not have to stay stuck in the fight or flight zone. It’s time to “reboot ” the energy of the day and express the mastery we are capable of.

If you wish, find the time during the day to state an intent: It is my intent to bring my fight or flight switch to neutral, releasing any and all harmful stress that no no longer serves my divine purpose.

It is also my intent to align my self to the master within, aligned to my highest potential, aligned with my highest possibility within the divine infinite field of all possibilities.

Of course we give thanks for this: THANK YOU ! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Lets see how well we can do and the impact we can create on our lives and those around us.

Happy Sept. 11th Peace Joy and Love to us all, Tom

Energy of September and the Number Nine

Beautiful and energetic, September has an exciting numerology. It is the ninth month of the year and the last single digit before the year is described as double digit 10. The 10 holds the energy frequency of a new beginning but it requires a month dedicated to completion and resolution . The number nine can be visualized as a circle or wheel. It is the movement around your world, back to the starting point. If you intend to grow and expand your consciousness, you will focus your energy on completing your immediate challenges that will boost you to a new level. Your return to the starting point on the wheel can signify a return to Unity, to wholeness. However, depending on how well you resolved the challenges facing you, there is the opportunity to flow into a spiral , carrying you to another level. You actually step up into another level of consciousness. This is because you practiced self discipline , energizing your focus on resolving long time issues that have hindered you in your growth.

This resolution results in Wisdom. My wife and twin flame, Linda, has observed that “Wisdom is the knowledge gained through lessons learned” . That is the gift of self discipline. We now have something to share with humanity. Our goal, all along, is to contribute to the Oneness, do work that results in benefits to us all.

September has several dates that align very strongly to this work of resolution and completion. The first day, 9/01/2020, as well as 9/10 hold that energy of resolution in order to create a new beginning. The next days to notice that resonate strongly to completion and resolution have multiples of 9. They are 9/9, 9/18 (1+8=9) and 9/27, (2+7=9). The nine one day and nine ten are preparations for October, the 10th month. The nine days are a call of attention. It is a way of saying to us, Today is a good day to resolve that issue. Take advantage of this energetic resonance , it will flow effortlessly because its in alignment. Keep in mind, we are in this 2020 year which holds the foundation and structure of our heart with the greatest potential for success. We are called to be of service to humanity. We are all in this together with the opportunity to benefit each other like never before.

With Respect and Gratitude, Tom
